Artists always ask questions - what you see is how they worked out the problems, how they answered those questions. Whether Caravaggio understanding form through dramatic falling light or Hockney making sense of water frozen in a splash. 

Here, in these photographs San Francisco artist Audrey Heller makes us ask the questions. What are we looking at? Her background was in theatre, as a director and lighting designer.

She says on her website - " I create mixed scale scenarios, using the disorientation that results from these surreal scenes, to draw attention to the beauty and power of everyday objects and daily interactions. I encourage people to see things that they might otherwise overlook.  I feel passionately about creating community, and building bridges between people so when my pictures spark a conversation, or evoke a shared smile I feel a tremendous delight."
